  2. Le Donk and Scor-zay-zee Trailer

“15 years ago a roadie named Donk seemed to have it all. Now his life is shit. So he decides to take UK rapper Scor-zay-zee with him on a road trip that he hopes will change their lives forever.”

New Shane Meadows out soon, he and his co-deviser, the brilliant Paddy Considine, look like they’re going to let us in on the private joke of Le Donk (Considine) who has cropped up half formed in some past films.

A return to the style of Shane Meadow’s early shorts, Le Donk, a faux-rockumentary, was made over a period of 5 days, with no script, no funding and a very small crew.

This looks like it could quite possibly be brilliant.

  3. Watch Listen Tell is the brainchild of Dave Tree, a director with a real passion for live music. He and partner Ben Axtell created a project that takes artists out of their comfort zones and onto the streets, armed with nothing but their talent.

The video features Speech Debelle who recently won the Mecury Music Prize for the best UK or Ireland based album of the year. An interview can be found here.

  4. The lounge—it can be quite difficult to choose a CD to play sometimes and even more so to actually get it out of the stack, but it looks good and aesthetics are the thing that is the most important.

  5. Woody Allen
Picture a writer and it’s Woody Allen you’ll see. Allen’s low-key tastes have barely changed over the years. He has mastered an unassuming mix of tweed and corduroy, and maybe a slight variation here and there on those horn-rimmed glasses that might as well have been glued to his face in the 1970s. Call it nerd chic, the slightly disheveled, East Coast–intellectual style that current tastemakers like Wes Anderson have adopted so skillfully. Allen proved that you don’t have to doll yourself up like Cary Grant to be a sex symbol—you just have to wear it well.
• Don’t try to be someone you’re not. Allen has spent a lifetime embracing his oddness, and women have spent a lifetime embracing him.

  9. CDEFGABC, 2’19” - A short by Lernert Engelberts & Sander Plug, commissioned by MTV Europe
The task was to commit and dedicate yourself to even the most stupid ideas that come to mind. They decided on building a duo glass harp and tasked themselves with learning to play this 18th-century music instrument in less than 8 weeks. Instead of a classical piece or suchlike, they chose the classic 20th-century pop song ‘No limit’ by 2unlimited.

  10. My new favourite band Love of Everything - a husband and wife duo from Chicago. This recording isn’t of a full song, but watching them was very inspirational. Just prior to starting to film this, Bobby Burg had recorded a couple of things, including the flash charging on a Lomo Fisheye, using an Akai Headrush, which was looped throughout the song, and then played additional guitar on top.

It was great to see how much a two piece can actually do with a little help - this was one of my favourite gigs ever, I wish I’d got the whole of their set recorded, they blew the 3 other bands out of the water, so to speak.
